Description:

Provides individualized vocational rehabilitation for eligible clients with physical and mental disabilities to help them to become employed: diagnostic services; treatment for medical and vocational purposes; prosthetic appliances; training on the job or at a trade school, business school, college, or other facility; maintenance and transportation while enrolled in training; employment counseling and guidance; employment placement; post-employment support services; rehabilitation technology (assists client and employer at work site in modifying and adapting equipment, appliances, and devices); TN Disability Determination Services is in conjunction with Social Security Administration. This office serves Gibson, Lake and Obion counties.

Hours:

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. County counselors out-of-office schedule: Gibson County counselor goes to Trenton on Tuesdays and is in schools on Thursdays; Lake County counselor goes to Lake County on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Some services are free; some depend on economic need

Eligibility:

Ages 16 and over; must have a job handicap due to mental or physical disability; require vocational rehabilitation services in order to prepare for, enter, engage in, or retain employment. Intake counselors are in the office each day to take applications. Reports may be required. This office serves residents of Gibson, Lake and Obion counties. There is a financial need determination as well for some services.
