Description:

The Caregiver Relief Program of Bedford County supports families in Bedford County who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer!€™s disease at home. During a monthly in-home visit, the Program Director offers encouragement and education about the disease and caregiving, as well as referrals to helpful resources in the area. Agency provides a Respite Reimbursement program which encourages caregivers to seek out and utilize quality respite care, allowing them to take a much needed break from their caregiving duties. Their monthly support group gives caregivers an opportunity to encourage and learn from each other. The agency also seeks to educate caregivers and the community about dementia through the Virtual Dementia Tour. Developed by PK Beville and offered by Second Wind Dreams, this opportunity to !€œstep into the shoes!€ of a person with dementia, gives great insight into their world and encourages empathy in caring for them. The agency also appreciates opportunities to speak to civic, church and health organizations.

Eligibility:

Families living in Bedford County who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer!€™s disease are eligible for monthly visits and the Respite Reimbursement Program. Those living outside of Bedford County can receive information and referrals.
