Description:
Provides low interest loans for home repair or improvement for residents of Shelby County who qualify. Basic requirements include being a resident of Shelby County over 18 who owns and who lives in the home being repaired; applicants must have a minimum credit score of 580 with current mortgage and property taxes and must be a legal resident and some income eligibility requirements apply. Other requirements apply, including proof of steady employment; see website for application and more details. This is a 10 year loan with 1.5% low interest rate and repairs must be done by contractors approved by United Housing. Qualifying repairs include roofing, HVAC, Water Heater, electrical and plumbing, weatherization, handicapped accessibility improvements, safety and security upgrades, exterior repairs/painting/siding, code violation repairs and other repairs evaluated on a case by case basis. Intake Process:
Please call before submitting the application and credit report fee to insure that you meet income eligibility guidelines; if so, download application from website or call for more information; must provide a copy of your Social Security card and government ID with credit report fee and application; if approved for a loan, you must attend a one on one counseling session with UH staff to discuss budgeting, construction process and home maintenance.

$25.00 Credit Report Fee required with application; persons who receive the loans must pay back the loan plus the interest that the loan accrues
