Gallatin Shalom Zone

Description:

Provides community outreach, youth development and life long learning to residents of Macon, Sumner, and Trousdale County. Programs include Adult Basic Education for adults working toward their GED/HiSet certification, English as a Second Language program for non English speakers seeking to improve their language skills, Homework Help for children in grades 1-5 during the school year, Career Development summer program for teens ages 14-19 and Christmas toy program.

Hours:

Office Hours: Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Adult Education Classes: Tue & Thu 10:00 am - Noon; ESL Classes: (call to confirm schedule/sites): Mon & Wed 10:00 am - 12:00 noon (Gallatin Shalom Zone) and Tue 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm (United Methodist Church Gallatin, 149 West Main Street Gallatin, TN 37066); After School Program runs from Sept - May during the school year on Mon - Thu 2:45 pm - 4:45 pm. Teen Career Development summer program usually takes place in July.

Eligibility:

Adult Basic Education Classes are open to anyone over 18 years of age in Macon, Sumner or Trousdale County working toward their GED/HiSet certification; ESL classes are open to anyone 18 years of age seeking to improve their English speaking skills; After School Program is open to children in grades 1-5 in Sumner County; Teen Summer Career Program is open to Sumner County residents ages 14-19.

Toys for Tots program is open to families in Macon, Sumner or Trousdale County with needy children up to age twelve, or up to age 18 if the child has special needs. Applications are usually available in mid-November.
