Description:

901Ride Choice now has two programs. The traditional program for those 60 and over or disabled and the new program titled Rides to Resources.

901RideChoice 60 and Over
Provides a free phone number for transportation referrals for persons 60 and older and/or persons with disabilities to find available public and private transportation resources in the city of Memphis. Staff will conduct follow-up surveys with callers. The initiative is funded by LISC ( Local Initiatives Support Corporation) in partnership with Uber Health. Please note, riders must be able to get in and out of the car on their own. As this is an Uber service, drivers are not prepared or covered to help someone from their home and into a car. The program will also only offer rides within Shelby County limits. Note: as of March 2022, the initiative is offering 25 FREE ROUND-TRIP RIDES TO SENIORS OR PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. Must schedule two days prior to trip.

Rides to Resources is free transportation if linked to a social determinant of health. The program can be listed how it currently. We are now offering rides to destinations that impact the social determinants of health. This program is named "Rides to Resources" (it is a program under 901 Ride Choice). Under this program, we encourage residents to contact us between 9:30 am - 3:30 pm during the week. To be eligible for a subsidized ride, you must be a resident of Shelby County and must be 18 years or older; and all trips must fit within the category of social determinants of health. This portion of the program will end March 2024.
