Empowers people with disabilities with opportunities for choice, inclusion, and independence. Client-focused services include information and referral, services designed to prevent or transition clients out of institutionalization or homelessness, help determining how employment or entrepreneurship will affect government benefits, assistance in finding and maintaining employment, help learning how to use assistive devices, peer mentoring, and financial assistance to support clients in achieving independent living goals. Business-focused services include website accessibility testing, accessibility consultations, sensitivity training, development of Braille materials, and Access Music City.

Program Fees:
Most services are provided at no cost to the client. Fees are charged for some services, such as accessibility consultations and brailling of materials, but this information is provided to the client ahead of time.

Businesses and those with disabilities covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, particulary those in Cheatham, Davidson, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties.

Empower Tennessee is always looking for people of differing abilities and skills who are interested in empowering people with disabilities. Whether it!s facilitating a peer group, serving on the Board, writing blogs, planning an event, assessing a restaurant for accessibility, or teaching a skills class, volunteers are welcome.
