Nashville Talking Library is a free audio information service providing books, magazines, newspapers, and more to residents of Middle Tennessee with certified reading disabilities. The program is on the air seven days a week, at all hours.

Nashville Talking Library's programming is intended solely for individuals who cannot read conventional print due to a disability. Programs may not be copied or redistributed.

Program Fees:

There is no fee to use the talking library. When a user applies for the service, the library can mail a free, specially-tuned, easy-to-use radio receiver. The radio is on loan for as long as needed for Davidson County residents.

The library accepts: Materials in good condition (no torn, yellowed, water-damaged, or marked!€on pages; no broken bindings or stained covers.), Books, Music CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, Audiobooks on CD and mp3, and Seeds for the Seed Exchange (Please review the Seed Protocol for information on seed donations).

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers over the age of 13 are welcome to serve as talking library assistants. All adults will have their backgrounds checked prior to volunteering, and the library reserves the right to refuse volunteers. Volunteers read newspapers live on the air. They also record books and magazines at the studios at Main Library. Volunteers may schedule recording sessions Monday through Friday.
