Description:

Provides services of strengthening literacy of at-risk children in East Nashville. ENHE works with children from schools in the Stratford and Maplewood clusters. East Nashville Hope Exchange works with the whole family to improve literacy. During the school year, families attend monthly workshops with programs for both adults and students. Weeknight tutoring is also available. In the summer, ENHE offers a six-week, full-time literacy program. Priority admission for the summer program is given to families who actively participate in the school year program.

Hours:

Office Hours: Mon - Thu 9:00 am - 4:00 pm; Fri Noon - 4:00 pm; Student and parent workshops are the second Saturday of each month from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Call for summer program hours.

At-risk students preparing for 1st - 3rd grade at MNPS in zip codes 37206, 37207 and 37216 and their families. Priority is given to struggling readers from low-income families.

Description

Strengthens the literacy of at-risk children in East Nashville. Operates two programs: a Summer Program and a School Year Program. (1) The Summer Program operates from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, for 6 weeks during the summer. (2) The School Year Program is a literacy-focused support program with monthly workshops and follow-up support. Volunteer opportunities available during both the Summer and School Year programs to help with the following: • Reading buddies and tutors (summer) • Friday field trip helpers (summer) • Provide snacks (summer and school year) • Help with children’s activities (summer and school year) • Help with family engagement events, including food preparation, set-up, and clean-up (summer and school year) • Take pictures and videos (summer and school year) • Lead ENHE by serving on committees and Board of Directors
