Description
Oak Plains Academyâs therapeutic foster care program is designed to serve children and youth with special psychological, social and emotional needs who can accept and respond to the close relationships within a family setting, but whose special needs require more intensive or therapeutic services than are found in traditional foster care. Foster parents are provided with initial and ongoing training in PATH (Parents As Tender Healers) to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to provide for child with intensive needs. Oak Plains Academyâs therapeutic foster care program provides 24/7 access to case managers to provide on-going support and crisis intervention. Case managers are therapeutically trained to assess situations that may arise so that foster parents have a knowledgeable support system through Oak Plains. Through the therapeutic foster care department, services needed by a child or family are provided and coordinated by foster parents and case managers in partnership with the Department of Childrenâs Services.
