                  Description

The focus of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is to improve the energy efficiency of low-income homes using the most advanced technologies and testing protocols available in the housing industry. Those who receive weatherization experience lower home energy costs and improved health and safety conditions of their own homes. There are two primary benefits of weatherization: The energy conservation resulting from weatherization through the efforts of state and local agencies helps America to reduce its dependence on foreign oil. Low-income families experience lower home energy costs and improved health and safety conditions of their homes. This results in an increase in the level of household self-sufficiency as the money ordinarily spent on home energy costs can be funneled to meet another need.
