Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville's empowering affordable homeownership program reaches into Davidson, Wilson, Dickson and Cheatham counties, with ReStores located in Nashville and Dickson. Habitat teaches future homeowners construction, home management, and budgeting and provides them with high quality, energy efficient homes with zero interest mortgages. Habitat's ReStores offer affordable furniture, appliances, and building materials.

Must attend an information session and complete an application at the website (www.habitatnashville.org/ownership) to see if qualifications are met.

Program Fees:

Closing costs of approximately $3,000 and there is a mortgage payment set at zero percent interest.

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants will be US citizens or permanent residents, meet criminal background check requirements, and have an ability to afford homeownership, a housing need, and a willingness to partner with Habitat to include sweat equity toward construction of their home and other homes, attendance at homeownership classes and budgeting sessions for several months, and working in the Habitat ReStore. Volunteer Opportunities:

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville offers a volunteer team building experience few other nonprofits can offer, while engaging life in such a deep and meaningful way. Volunteers can work on a Habitat build site, teach a class in the Homeowner Academy, or volunteer at the ReStore. Build volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Habitat for Humanity's ReStore accepts donations at any of the ReStore locations during regular business hours. ReStore also provides a free pickup service for heavy items.
