Centerstone - Therapeutic Foster Care

Description

When children can't be reunified with their families, they often have a permanent goal of adoption. When this is the case, Centerstone steps in and helps to facilitate the adoption process by locating an adoptive family. The adoptions manager helps families navigate the legal process and prepares all parties for the emotional and legal changes that they will face. In addition to facilitating the adoption of children in the foster care program, Centerstone also offers ICPC supervision services for families placed with children from other states. In accordance with ICPC (the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children) all 50 states require a supervision period of no less than six months after a child is initially placed in an adoptive home.

Description

Integrated Therapeutic Foster Care is treatment that is designed not only to treat your child's behavior symptoms, but also designed to look at all of the barriers to recovery that your child is facing. We not only help you and your child work through the emotional and behavioral struggles but we look at other environmental factors as well including health and overall well-being. Our Foster Homes are safe places where children can examine the causes for their struggles and deal with them in a structured way.

Description

Children and teens in state custody are often very vulnerable. Many are victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. Some have behavioral and mental obstacles to overcome. Foster parents provide safe and supportive homes for these children. The children in our program are typically between 12 and 18 years old. Centerstone provides foster parenting services on short- and long-term bases. Some children need foster parents while working toward reunification with their families. Others need an encouraging home environment while working toward independent living.

Eligibility

Foster parents and mentors must have patience and a desire to work with children who need extra care and support. Additionally, foster parents and mentors must meet the income requirements and: Be at least 25 years old Have graduated high school Submit three letters of recommendation Have full coverage auto insurance Complete a Centerstone background check Abide by confidentiality policies Have at least one year of experience working with youth Have availability to spend with children in the evenings and on weekends
