Fees

State Sales tax is 7% of the purchase price. For purchases in excess of $1600.00, an additional State Tax of 2.75% and is added up to a maximum $44.00. Local Sales Tax is 2.75% and is capped at $44.00. This tax procedure is only for boats transferred by individuals. Dealers coordinate registration, etc., when sale is made by their business.

Description

Fees

New business license: $15; annual renewal is free with the filing of the business tax return. Businesses with between $3,000 and $10,000 in annual sales must pay $15/year for a minimal activity license. Transient vendor license: $57.

New business license applications may be completed online. The transient vendor license application form may be printed and brought to the clerk's office with the required fee.

Description

Before a marriage can occur in Tennessee, a license must be obtained from a County Clerk. Ministers of the Gospel, Rabbis, Christian Science practitioners, and various civil officials are authorized by law to solemnize a marriage. Marriage license requirements are specific to each applicant's age.

Eligibility

People 17 years and older. If applicant is 17 years of age, the other party has to be within four years their senior; consent of parents, guardian, or next of kin is required (unless minor emancipated); parent or guardian must accompany in applying for license; custodial parent must bring custody papers (if applicable) to show proof of custody.

Fees

With Certification of Completion certifying at least 4 hours of premarital counseling – $40.00. Without Certification of Completion – $100.00. Certified copies of marriage certificates are $5.00 and must be paid with a money order.

Complete the online application, bring ID verifying your age, and pay the required fee. Both parties to the marriage must be present.

Description

The clerk processes vehicle registrations and renewals.

Intake Procedure

Most renewals can be done online or using the Auto Assistant app. Applicants may also come to the office. If you have a special class of plate that requires proof of membership, you cannot renew online. Military renewal cannot be processed online due to necessary documentation needed.

Description

Notary Public applications received by the County Clerk are forwarded to the County Commission for approval after the District Attorney's Office conducts an investigation to determine if the applicant is eligible under the law.

Eligibility

To qualify for a public office a person must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and be in compliance with Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA 8-18-101). All notaries must be a resident of the county, or have their principal place of business in the county from which they were elected. If an individual has his principal place of business in any county in the state of Tennessee, he shall be eligible for election as a notary at large, although he may reside in a state other than Tennessee (TCA 8-16-101). All notaries must be a U.S. Citizen (Pub. Ch. 834, Acts 2008) All individuals meeting these qualifications are eligible for election as a notary public at large except the following persons: Those who have been convicted of offering or giving a bribe, or of larceny, or any other offense declared infamous by law, unless restored to citizenship in the mode pointed out by law; Those against whom there is a judgment unpaid for any moneys received by them, in any official capacity, due to the United States, to this state, or any county of this state; Those who are defaulters to the treasury at the time of the election, and the election of any such person shall be void; Soldiers, sailors, marines, or airmen in the regular army or navy or air force of the United States; and Members of congress, and persons holding any office of profit or trust under any foreign power, other state of the union, or under the United States. (8-18-101).

Description

A passport is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S. Passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. Only the U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue or verify United States passports. The clerk's office can assist with processing passport applications and can take your passport photo.

Passports are issued by appointment only. Appointment times are Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Call the office to make an appointment.
