Description

The National Council on Aging administers the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which assists unemployed, low-income older adults age 55 and older with poor employment prospects obtain jobs by providing job skill training and job search assistance.

Hours

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 3:30 pm

Eligibility

Unemployed seniors, ages 55 and older, who live on a family income of no more than 125% of the federal poverty level

Fees

No fee.

Intake Procedure

Applicant must complete a pre-application packet and submit to the NCOA office. Once the completed packet is received from applicant, someone from NCOA will call applicant to notify him/her of their eligibility status. If eligible and there is no waiting list, the applicant will be scheduled for an appointment to complete enrollment paperwork and for an orientation. The participant will be assigned to a community training partner to update and/or learn new job skills and to begin preparing for employment outside of the program. The participant will train approximately 15 hours per week and earn minimum wage while training.
