Description:

Love Doesn't Hurt helps to provide emergency resources for housing and therapy to victims of domestic violence or sexual violence in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community in Shelby County; non-profit also offers education and workshops that educates everyone about the LGBTQ+ community and helps persons in the LGBTQ+ community develop healthy relationships, how to recognize the warning signs of an unhealthy relationship and/or how to move away from such a relationship.

Intake Process:

Call to schedule appointment or for information on trainings; referrals to resources for LGBTQ+ crime victims and survivors require a referral from another social service agency plus proof of the incident (in the form of a letter from a doctor, social worker, clergy, and social services agency that is aware of the situation) and drivers license or some other form of state issued photo ID

Program Fees:

No Fee for referrals and most trainings (however, fees may apply for agency specific training)

Eligibility:

Educational trainings are open to all; referrals to LGBTQ+ friendly agencies for housing and therapy are for LGBTQ+ victims or survivors of domestic or sexual violence in Shelby County; referrals to resources are not guaranteed and require a referral to Love Doesn't Hurt from another social service agency and proof of the incident

Volunteers needed to help with setup at events, to greet guests, help with clean up and breakdown at events, assist with manning table during events; volunteers are subject to a screening to make sure they are a good fit for the organization
