Pregnant Mom's Empowerment Program

Description:

Provides a free five week online support group for women who are currently pregnant, at least 16 years old and who have been exposed to intimate partner violence (emotional, physical, sexual, verbal or psychological abuse) in the past year. Groups currently meet at our office at the University of Memphis for two hours a week to discuss a variety of topics including pregnancy and partners, life stressors and personal goals and hopes for their future child. Women receive baby care items (soap, lotions, onesies, etc.) for attending group sessions and can earn up to $400 in gift cards for completing individual interviews across their participation in the program over the course of 1.5 years. Eligibility:

Women (16 years and older) who are currently pregnant and who have been exposed to intimate partner violence in the past year, and who are living in Fayette or Shelby County, TN; DeSoto County, MS or Crittenden County, AR; must meet program eligibility requirements to participate in the full study
