Description:

The Family Safety Center (FSC) is one of the largest Family Justice Centers in the country. The FSC increases the safety of victims of domestic and sexual violence, child and elder abuse, and human trafficking by creating a supportive environment for victims to receive free and confidential services from a variety of providers. Walk-ins are welcome.

Partners currently providing services at the FSC: Nashville Children's Alliance, the Department of Children's Services, MNPD Domestic Violence Division's Family Intervention Program, MNPD Youth Services Department, the District Attorney's Office, Sexual Assault Center, FiftyForward, YWCA, the Mary Parrish Center. Services provided include: Safety Planning, Danger Assessment, Orders of Protection, Counseling, Crisis Intervention, Shelter/Housing Assistance, Emergency Food Assistance, Children's Services, Support Groups, Referrals to Partner Agencies, and Address Confidentiality Assistance.

The Family Safety Center welcomes donations of the following items: Non-perishable food items, Canned goods (preferably with pop-top lids), Dried goods (rice, beans, pasta, Hamburger Helper, mashed potatoes), Oatmeal, cereal, Soup, ravioli, Granola bars, Snacks (like chip bags, crackers, cookies, etc.), Juice boxes, Ground coffee, Cleaning supplies, Gift cards for grocery stores or superstore, Blankets, Journals, Books/magazines (English and Spanish), Board games, Fidget items, Toys, Baby formula, Books (English and Spanish), Movies (English and Spanish), Gift cards for grocery stores, Visa gift cards, Hotel vouchers, Gift cards and vouchers for gas, Uber, and Lyft; Travel-sized toiletry items (soap, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner), Cell phone chargers (Android, iPhone, etc.), Tablets, and Disposable cell phones.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers are welcome and may help with special events, greet and educate clients, sort and put donated items away, help with office tasks, and ensure that meals and snacks are available for clients. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and be able to pass a background check. Volunteers with diverse backgrounds and those who can speak multiple languages are encouraged to apply.
