Description:

Identifies and effectively diverts drug overdose (OD) victims and potential OD victims into treatment. Lessens the impact of the opioid crisis on law enforcement by reducing the number of individuals addicted and likely to OD, and by increasing the likelihood and effectiveness of the prosecution of traffickers/distributors. Parts of the program (case management and group therapy) are also open to persons addicted to alcohol or other pain medicine as well.

Hours:

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Intake Process:

Potential clients are referred from agencies or enrolled into UT's Center for Addiction Science. An initial assessment will be completed with client. Then a follow up appointment, group therapy and case management be scheduled.

Program Fees:

If uninsured, opioid patients will be referred to First Step Recovery Centers for assistance. Upon the initial visit, the patient will meet in person with Case Management. The patient must bring two forms of identification, proof of residency, his/her most recent pay stub, and should already have an email account set up. During the visit with Case Management, the patient will apply for Medicaid insurance with Tennessee via phone or computer and will set up his/her own account.

Eligibility:

Persons with opioid addiction are eligible for full program; persons with alcohol or other pain medicine addictions may be eligible for group therapy and case management portion of the program.
