Modest Needs Foundation - Temporary Financial Assistance

The Modest Needs Foundation is a national non-profit organization that can provide one-time grants to assist with household expenses for low-income workers, workers furloughed by the COVID-19 pandemic, frontline responders, and recently returned veterans. Offers 2 main types of grants: Self-Sufficiency Grants and Homecoming Heroes grant for veterans newly returned from duty. The grants come with no strings attached and do not ever have to be repaid. Provides assistance for an otherwise self-sufficient individual or family for a relatively small, emergency expense which could not have been anticipated and paid for. Examples: cost of auto repair in order to continue working or rent due because of lost income from illness or injury. Also offers a Homecoming Heroes Grant for US military personnel in similar circumstances returning from active overseas duty (must have been honorably discharged from the military in the last five years) to be eligible. Must complete an application online at www.modestneeds.org. Processing and approving the application may take up to 10 days, so may not be the best choice if money is needed immediately.

Eligibility:

Applicant must be low income and employed, furloughed due to Covid-19, be an emergency or frontline responder, or a recently returned veteran. Primary source of income must come from employment, unemployment, child support, veterans' benefits, disability, or retirement income. Must have access to an e-mail account.
