Description:

MIFA Emergency Services provides utility, rent and mortgage assistance for Shelby County households who have lost income or experienced a recent crisis. Information which applicants provide on the online application and supporting documentation helps the agency staff determine who is eligible for the program. Applications are accepted online only at mifa.org/applyonline; HOWEVER, if persons need help completing the online application, they can call the Emergency Services Help Desk at (901) 529-4538. Walkins no longer accepted as all applications are now online.

Intake Process:

APPLY ONLINE at mifa.org/applyonline. For help completing the online application, call (901) 529-4538. Documentation Needed: be prepared to upload the following information: Driver's license or state ID showing address, documentation of a crisis or loss of household income in the past 90 days, MLG&W bill showing balance due (for utility assistance) or lease or mortgage statement showing balance due(for rent or mortgage assistance). Applicants may be asked to submit additional documentation to support their application. Applicants should be prepared to upload supporting documents to the online application form. Applications cannot be processed without the required documents.

Must be a resident of Shelby County and be able to document a recent crisis (within the last 90 days) that has affected your ability to pay your bills; must not have received Emergency Services assistance from MIFA in the past 24 months.
