Description:

Provides free GED, HiSet and job skills training for youth ages 16-24 in Fayette, Haywood, Lauderdale, Shelby and Tipton counties. Paid training program for eligible youth from these counties helps persons learn skills in construction, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), Technology and Manufacturing Technician with entry level training. Persons must commit to a nine month training period and must be seeking to get the GED or HiSet completed to be eligible; students must also be able to get to the classes which are held city-wide. Some of the training is hands on, some is virtual and some training takes place in a classroom setting. The hands-on job training portion of the program offers paid training. Sponsored by the South Memphis Renewal Community Development Corporation. Spanish speaking staff available.

Hours:

Mon - Fri 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Intake Process:

Walk in or call to apply; must provide needed documentation to verify identity and status to be accepted into the program; requires state issued photo ID, social security card, birth certificate and proof of residence
