AFTER-SCHOOL
Open to girls ages 4-18, our after-school program allows girls from Kingsport City and Sullivan County Schools to become Strong, Smart, and Bold through weekly Girls Inc. programming. After-School programming includes transportation on vans to our facility from the child's school, a daily snack, free activity time, homework help, access to our in-house library & computer lab, and Girls Inc. National Programs. In addition to these daily activities, girls also get the opportunity to sign up for special activities such as bible classes, Small Miracles Therapeutic Horseback Riding, Girlbotics Lego League, Girls Inc. Mentoring, and monthly nursing home visits.

Monday-Thursday - 2:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Friday - 2:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Operation Smart is a nationally developed, researched, and acclaimed program that gives girls hands-on learning opportunities in a setting designed for exploration and success in the areas of science and math. They have a workshop where girls measure, cut, and assemble projects using both power and hand tools. The girls participate in community recycling efforts, visit museums, planetariums and other learning institutions.

Smart Camps provide an intense summer camp experience.

Project CREATE provides opportunities to use recyclables, gather a bug collection, design a "Box City" with Kingsport city planners, or learn about health issues from area physicians.

Kid-Ability is a child sexual abuse prevention program.

Action for Safety is a self-defense program.

Character Counts! provides character education and programming.

Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy encourages girls to postpone sexual intercourse.

Friendly PEERsuasion is a substance abuse prevention program.

Career Action Center provides resources for college and career preparation while also serving as a center for hands on career education.

Cultural Literacy Program helps the girls to celebrate and learn about multi-cultural holidays, Black History month, and Women's History month through special programs throughout the community.

Keeping Healthy, Keeping Safe focuses on self-esteem issues and exhibiting assertive as opposed to passive or aggressive behaviors.

Sports and Adventure encourages girls to take risks and sample a variety of activities such as karate, gymnastics, basketball, rock climbing, white water rafting, dance, archery, and volleyball. These activities enhance their physical development and teach them about commitment, leadership, and drive for success. Sports and nature camps are provided during the summer.

Volunteer Activities with agencies such as Kingsport Nursery School and The Asbury Center provide a variety of activities (such as reading, crafts, and puppet shows) to promote good character and leadership.

The Ambassador Club involves girls learning about our organization, the community, and what they can do to contribute to it. It includes training and monthly volunteer opportunities.

Positive Points allows girls to earn points throughout the month for good behavior, good grades, attendance, and helping others. These points are used to "buy" items at our Positive Points store.
