Ladies of Charity Emergency Assistance Office

Description:

Provides assistance to Davidson County residents, who need help with past due rent, past due utility bills (water and gas), food and/or clothing. Rent payment assistance may be available to residents in Davidson County, who have a past due balance, and receive Section 8 and a subsidy from HUD. Provides a small amount of utility assistance (for gas or water bills) to Davidson County residents whose utilities have been or are at risk of being shut off. Ladies of Charity does not pay deposits, late fees, current month's rent or legal fees. Walk into the site for help with a food box, snack bag or used clothing for adults. The LOC Thrift Store, located at 2216 State Street, has two annual spring and fall clothing sales and a Stuff Galore sale that raise money for the emergency assistance programs.

Intake Process:

May walk in for food box, snack bag or used clothing; a food box information form and photo ID is required for food box pickup; information form may be completed upon arrival. Calling the office is recommended before seeking financial assistance with rent or utilities, as numerous documents are needed to complete the applications. Rent assistance payment will go directly to the landlord and utility payment assistance will go directly to the utility company. Assistance is only provided once in a 12 month period.

Assistance is only available for residents of Davidson County; call for specific requirements and documents needed for completion of a financial assistance form. Rental Assistance is also only available for Davidson County residents with a past due balance who receive Section 8 and a subsidy from HUD.
