Description:

SCSNC is a local advocacy group serving individuals with special needs, disabilities or neurodivergence in Sumner County. The organization does this primarily through information exchange, education, community building and linkage to resources. The agency maintains a resource directory on their website with over 20 pages of local resources specific to the disability community and is currently working on creating a printed version of the directory. SCSNC conducts voter education interviews with school board candidates and posts this on their website blog and hosts Town Hall events during which attendees can hear speakers talking about different topics specifically concerning disabilities. The agency also partners with other organizations to host the annual Regional Special Needs Expo each August in Hendersonville where participants can learn about local agencies and opportunities and also hosts community building activities for the special needs community and professionals in the field, like planned play days for families and an end of the year party giveaway for one special education team..
