Tullahoma Bridges Out of Poverty

Description:

Provides free 18-20 week course offered in the fall (August) and in the spring (January or February) entitled Getting Ahead that offers participants tools to navigate and escape poverty through communication, training and networks. Classes are usually held on Monday evenings during each session and provide childcare, transportation and dinner before each class. Each group includes a facilitator for groups of 8-12 persons, who teach the course using the book Getting Ahead in a Just Getting By World. Graduates of the course are offered further courses after graduating and completing the initial course, such as personal money management, setting boundaries in relationships, and emotional health. Open to Coffee County residents. The course offers a supportive environment for exploring the causes and conditions of poverty in the local area with essential resources to develop and access to increase household income and improve mental and physical health and provide stability for local households.
