South Central Region - Relative Caregiver Program

Description:

The South Central Region Relative Caregiver Program supports children and the extended family members who are raising them: grandparents, siblings, and aunts, of children whose birth parents are unable to care for them. The program seeks to aid in strengthening the family's ability to maintain a supportive and stable environment. Services include support groups, children's therapeutic activity groups, material assistance (i.e. clothing & furniture), information and referral, education and informational workshops, respite and recreation, family advocacy, and emergency financial and/or start-up assistance. This program is run by The Center for Family Development and covers families in these TN counties: Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Grundy, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Moore, Perry and Wayne.

Eligibility:

Relative caregivers who have primary care and control of the children and meet income guidelines in Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Grundy, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Moore, Perry and Wayne County. Caregiver must be related to the children by blood, marriage or adoption. Proof of relationship is required to receive services. In order to receive emergency financial or start-up assistance, the caregiver must not receive assistance from foster care, Families First Kinship payment or subsidized guardianship and the household income cannot exceed twice the current federal poverty guidelines.
