Description:

The Aloe Family provides resources for education, tutoring, job skills training, financial literacy, food and connection to resources to LatinX immigrant, asylum and refugees in the US, as well as under-resourced communities internationally including Sonora, Mexico. Offers ESL classes and job skills training for adults, after school tutoring for MNPS students and free food boxes weekly for residents at the Rolling Hills Apartments for LatinX communities in Nashville and monthly free food boxes at Horizon Park Apartments.

ESL night classes are offered once a week in 1.5 hour classes from January to October for adults. The course is designed by TEFL certified instructors in Spanish and in English and is designed for all education levels who can read and write in Spanish. The Jobs Skills program is also for LatinX adults who are learning English in the ESL classes who are seeking a job or to start their own business. Persons are taught how to open a bank account, personal budgeting, marketing, digital communications and more. The course is in Spanish and in English, and persons must be enrolled in the English class to attend; the class runs from January to October along with the ESL classes.

After School Tutoring is offered to LatinX students at MNPS at two sites, with tutors in both English and Spanish: at the Hispanic Family Foundation on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm; and at the Rolling Hills Apartments on Monday and Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:50 pm. Agency also offers weekly box of free produce per family for LatinX households at Rolling Hills Apartments, and monthly box of food to Horizon Park Apartments for the same group. Must live at the designated community apartment to receive the free food boxes.

For information on free food box giveaway on Sundays at Rolling Hills Apartments and once a month at Horizon Park Apartments, call the agency (must be a resident of those complexes to receive food)

Program Fees:

ESL/Job Skills Classes: $20.00 or less for each course; additional services charged on a sliding scale fee based on income.
