Description:

We offer after school, summer, and sports programming to local girls in 21 area schools including Blount, Anderson and Knox Counties. We run intentional programming in the areas of STEM, Economic Literacy, Media Awareness, Mentoring, and Health and Fitness through outreach programs, while running a center based model for girls in Anderson county. Our girls participate in fun, interactive, hands-on activities that improve their academic and social skills while offering them a safe and creative space to think outside of the box. Girls Inc.'s mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, and we encourage girls to grow up healthy, educated, and empowered.

Hours:

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 6:00 pm mid August - May;
Mon - Fri 7:30 am - 5:30 pm June - Mid August of each year.

Program Fees:

There is no fee required for girls in our outreach program. However, there is a weekly fee for our center based program in Oak Ridge and for sport programs. We do offer need based scholarships for those who qualify.

Females age 5-18 residing in in Anderson, Knox, and Blount counties.

Volunteer Opportunities:

At Girls Inc., we are always accepting of volunteers! The majority of volunteer opportunities take place at our center location in Oak Ridge. However, we can use volunteers at our Knoxville schools depending on date and time of year. Generally, we need volunteers for yard work/landscaping, help in the classrooms, and tutoring. Volunteers must be 18 or older, and volunteers must be able to pass a background check. Contact Alanna Hunsaker at 865-482-4475.
