Description:
Provides a nationwide non-profit that trains and provides Hearing Assistance Dogs for individuals ages 18 and older who are Deaf or hard of hearing; Autism Assistance Dogs to children aged 4-8 who live in the states of Oregon, Washington or California; and provides Facility Dogs for certified professionals and volunteers who work with individuals with special needs and vulnerable populations. Dogs are trained to alert persons who are Deaf or hard of hearing to certain sounds (i.e., alarm clocks, smoke alarms, name call, etc.); to enhance the safety of children with autism by acting as an anchor and preventing the child from bolting; and to do specific, skilled tasks and placed with working professionals or volunteers to help support them in their work with vulnerable populations and persons with disabilities (physical, mental, cognitive, sensory, or developmental).

Eligibility:
Persons who are Deaf or hard of hearing aged 18 and older; children aged 4-8 who live in the states of Oregon, Washington or California; and professionals seeking dogs for assist volunteers or professionals such as physicians, teachers, counselors, and police officers who work with vulnerable populations and people with disabilities. To begin the process to potentially receive a dog, an application must be filled out on the agency website.
