Description:
The Memphis Shelby Crime Commission is a non-profit organization seeking to improve public safety in the Memphis and Shelby County community. It is governed by a diverse 50 member board made up of key private and public sector stakeholders. The Crime Commission developed a five year Safe Community Plan (2022-2026), advocates for implementation of this plan, and measures and monitors the plan's impact. Key stakeholders have agreed to take the lead in implementing various objectives int he plan. The Crime Commission partners with the University of Memphis Public Safety Institute (PSI), which plays a key role in independently evaluating the success of Safe Community Plan objectives as they develop.
