Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South

Description:

Provides a variety of programs for grades K-12 that teach children in the Mid-South area about economic education and financial literacy in school and after school settings by trained business volunteers. JA Biztown, a replica of a real city with its own bank and fifteen other businesses including a city hall, is a hands-on program that teaches 4th, 5th and 6th graders how business and a community works. This JA agency serves Memphis, Shelby County and many surrounding areas, including many West TN counties (Dyersburg and Jackson, TN areas and beyond), Desoto, Marshall and Tunica Counties in Mississippi and many counties in Arkansas ranging from West Memphis to Jonesboro, Arkansas. Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South empowers children to be world ready and engage members of their communities so they may lead independent lives and attain their dreams.

Program Fees:

No Fee for in-school programs; JA Biztown: $30.00/student (organization accepts sponsorships from corporations and small businesses to support student participation)

Eligibility:

Children currently attending school in grades K-12 in Crockett, Chester, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Haywood, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Shelby and Tipton counties in Tennessee; DeSoto, Marshall and Tunica Counties in Mississippi; and Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Mississippi, Phillips and St Francis Counties in Arkansas; teens should go to www.jamyway.org for employment tips and assistance.
