Description:

Files certain legal documents mainly pertaining to or affecting real estate in Shelby County and provides public access to these records. The register determines whether each instrument offered for registration is entitled to registration under state laws. The most common records filed by the register include affidavits, liens, mortgages, powers of attorney, tax liens and property titles. Original records are usually filed and returned within 36 hours. Spanish available via Language Line interpreter services.

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:15 pm

Intake Process:

Check the website to see if your document is available for viewing. Documents not available online may be obtained by visiting the Register's office in person or by sending a written request by mail. Requests received by mail require the names of parties involved, date of transaction and the address of the subject property (if real property). Also accepts email (register@shelbycountytn.gov.)

Program Fees:

Copies made at the Register's office are 0.50 cents/page, excluding plats, which are $1.50/page.
