Description:

Promotes a quality residential neighborhood for the Vollintine Evergreen area with volunteer efforts of neighborhood residents through VECA. The Association maintains a Welcome Center at 1680 Jackson which serves as both an office and a center for activities and meetings supporting the neighborhood. Activities include a quarterly newsletter and a weekly e-newsletter; maintaining the V&E Greenline, a 1.7 mile rails-to-trails park that is owned by the neighborhood (trail runs from Springdale St to near Watkins St); supporting VECA's historic districts; provides events such as the Annual Meeting on the 4th Saturday of January, the V&E Artwalk in early October, National Night Out in October and a variety of informational meetings; working to revitalize local business districts; working on environmental issues concerning Lick Creek, Cypress Creek and neighborhood greenspaces; supporting a vegetable garden, flower garden and shade garden; addressing code violations and problem properties; encouraging the development of block clubs; supporting neighborhood institutions and civic groups that have youth programs; managing rental housing that helps fund the organization, and addressing the safety and security issues in the neighborhood. Hours:

Hours Vary; Welcome Center will be open when volunteers are available; a variety of committees and boards meet in the evenings, mostly on Monday and occasionally on Thursday. All neighborhood meetings are open to those wishing to attend. The Welcome Center can be reserved for meetings by neighborhood groups such as block clubs, neighborhood groups and committees, and governmental groups that serve the Vollintine Evergreen area.

Membership dues: Membership: $25.00/year; Family/Household: $35.00/year; Honor Gift: $50.00; Neighbor: $75.00/year; Leader: $100.00/year; Benefactor: $500.00/year

Eligibility:

Anyone in neighborhood bounded by Watkins Street on the west, Cypress Creek on the north, Springdale Street and Rhodes College on the east, and North Parkway Avenue on the south. VECA also welcomes involvement by others.
