Description:

Provides a variety of services for the Circuit Courts, Election Commission and the public, including voter registration, jury duty and the issuing of marriage licenses for DeSoto County, Mississippi residents. This is also a youth court and criminal court and hears civil cases that originate in the county and the office is housed in the DeSoto County Courthouse in Hernando.

Intake Process:

Call for information. For marriage licenses, both parties must appear together to obtain the license; present valid IDs, show proof of divorce (if one occurred within last 6 months) and both be over the age of 21 (or one parent must sign their approval if either applicant is under the age of 21, but over 18; if both applicants are under 18, two parents must sign the form). Marriage licenses cannot be issued unless the male applicant is at least 17 yrs of age and the female applicant is at least 15 yrs of age.

Varies by service; filing fee for marriage license is $37.00
