Shelby County Health Dept Medical Reserve Corps

Description:

Provides the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteer program, housed in the Shelby County Health Department; Memphis MRC is a member the Shelby County Citizen Corps. MRC is a national network of local groups of volunteers that recruits, coordinates, and mobilizes doctors, nurses, and other medical and non-medical professionals who donate time and expertise to prepare for and respond to local emergencies. MRC volunteers supplement existing emergency and public health resources in times of emergency and may also assist communities with ongoing public health needs such as immunizations, screenings, emergency preparedness and health education.

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Intake Process:

Call, email or visit website for information. May also apply online at the website. Volunteers are required to complete training before mobilization and are alerted via email or phone to report for duty in times of emergency.

Spanish and American Sign Language can be provided with prior notice

Eligibility:

Any medical professional wishing to volunteer and complete required training. Needed volunteer roles include nurses, doctors, EMTs, paramedics, respiratory therapists, mental health providers, social workers, chaplains, registration clerks, data entry, greeters, supply coordinators, and more. After completing the training, volunteers will be assigned a photo ID for use in disaster assistance.
