Provides main downtown location for Shelby County General Sessions Court, Civil Division (this is the small claims court). At this location you can file to have a tenant evicted, file an affidavit to collect on a bad check, make court-ordered payments, file a civil lawsuit, post cash bonds, get a copy of court dockets, file to garnish wages or put a levy on a bank account (up to $25,000) to satisfy a court ordered payment and many other services. This is the only location that can provide immediate attention from a judge for services requiring a judge's authorization.

Intake Process:

Call or visit website. At the website you can make court-ordered payments online with a credit card, download some court forms and check database of court cases by name or case number.

Forms available in clerk's office and some forms can be downloaded from website. Clerks prohibited by statute from assisting those who file without lawyers.
