Description:

Provides 24/7 crisis intervention hotline and referral, including mobile crisis assessment services, crisis respite services and crisis stabilization services. Crisis Assessment Center (CAC) and Mobile Crisis- Provide crisis de-escalation, refer to the least restrictive appropriate level of care, which will aid in stabilizing the individual.

For more serious psychiatric emergencies call Memphis Police Department - CIT team (call 901-545-2677, hit "0" and tell the dispatcher this is a mental health emergency).

Crisis Continuum

1. Crisis Assessment Center (CAC) and Mobile Crisis- Provide crisis de-escalation, refer to the least restrictive appropriate level of care, which will aid in stabilizing the individual.

2. Crisis Respite- Peer Specialist available to provide support and companionship to individuals who may otherwise not be able to stay on their own during a mental health crisis

3. Medically Monitored Detox- American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level III-7-D medically monitored detoxification center. An interdisciplinary team provides medical services, individual and group therapies, withdrawal support, and referrals to appropriate outpatient follow-up services

4. Crisis Stabilization Unit- Provide medication evaluation, therapeutic and educational groups, individual and family therapy, with the goal of building the individual!€™s strengths and skills to cope.

Intake Process:

Walk in or call; the mobile crisis unit will come to the client in need, but does not give out medication. For urgent cases where a fast response is necessary, call Memphis Police Department Non-Emergency Number for the CIT team (901-545-2677 extension "0" and tell the dispatch this is a mental health consumer; if they are transported, the client will usually be taken to this Crisis Assessment Center); if the person is violent or in danger of hurting themselves, call 9-1-1)

Program Fees:

No Fee for those without insurance; Accepts TennCare, Medicare/Medicare dual (with TennCare as secondary form of insurance) and offers a sliding scale fee based on federal poverty guidelines for persons without insurance

Eligibility:

Memphis/Shelby County residents ages 18 and over who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis. (Under 18 should be referred to Youth Villages or Lakeside).
