AKA:

Metro Alarms Office; Metro Alarm

Description:

Issues permits, administers bills and collects fees from burglar and fire alarm users in the city of Memphis, TN. Permits must be renewed annually and permits expire annually on June 30th; permits issued in the first six months of the calendar year (between January and June) are due on June 30th of the following year; permit holders will receive a renewal reminder notice annually by mail. A new Memphis city council ordinance passed which will go into effect on January 1, 2020, changes the way fines are assessed for false alarms and also requires the alarm system user themselves to have to apply for a permit from this office if their alarm company does not offer that service (in the past, many of the alarm companies handled getting the permits for their customers, but this is no longer mandatory per new state of TN legislation; check with your alarm company to make sure they still get the permit on your behalf; if not, you will have to apply for a permit yourself as an alarm user). Bills will be issued to alarm users for false alarms.
