Description:
Provides annual operating permits to food service facilities; inspects permitted food service businesses; also inspects and issues permits to hotels, motels and mobile food units; issues temporary/permanent food permits for a fee; investigates complaints and suspected food-borne illness outbreaks; conducts Food Managers Certification program; reviews plans for food establishments to insure conformity of codes. Restaurant scores can be found on State of TN website: https://apps.health.tn.gov/EHInspections/. In August 2020 the department moved from the downtown 814 Jefferson Avenue site to the old SCAN Interiors site at 1826 Sycamore View Road, Memphis 38134.
