Description:
The bureau is responsible for the comprehensive collection and dissemination of criminal history records within the jurisdiction of Shelby County. This information is collected during the processing of subjects under arrest. (After receiving a misdemeanor citation, a person MUST also appear at R&I at the designated time for fingerprinting and processing/mugshot.) A brief personal history, photo and fingerprints are taken at the time of booking. The fingerprint data is processed either through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) or manually by one of the many Fingerprint Technicians assigned to the unit.
Hours:
Criminal History Records and ID Office Hours: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:00 pm; Misdemeanor Citation Processing Hours: Mon - Fri 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Walk into the bureau during office hours
Program Fees:
$15.00/arrest ticket copies; $20.00/criminal background/arrest records; $15.00/first fingerprint impressions card; $5.00/additional card; cashier check or money order only
Eligibility:
Persons needing fingerprints or criminal background checks for employment or other needs; proper identification is required
