Description:

MIFA Meals on Wheels provides nutritious lunches for seniors in their homes and at congregate meal sites. Home delivered meals are for adults 60 and older in Shelby County who may have problems obtaining food for themselves or for younger persons with disabilities. Initial Screening is through the Aging Commission and is NOT dependent on income, but on the ability of a person to obtain and prepare healthy food.

Eligibility:

CONGREGATE MEALS: Shelby County residents over age 60 and under 60 with a disability. HOME DELIVERED MEALS: Shelby County seniors (ages 60 and older) who are nutritionally at risk and frail, homebound or with a disability. After initial phone screening, a home visit will be set up to assess eligibility for the program. Eligibility is based on nutritional and functional need, not income.
