Description:

Issues marriage licenses that are valid for 30 days, after which new applications must be made (if not married within time frame). Provides copies of marriage licenses.

Intake Process:

Both parties must come in person to one of three county clerk offices (Downtown, Mullins Station, Millington) to apply for marriage license. Both applicants must provide Social Security card and other identification; call for details. For copy of marriage license, come by or mail a $10 check drawn on local bank or money order, along with exact date of the marriage and full names of both parties, to Shelby County Clerk, 150 Washington Ave, Memphis, TN, 38103.

Program Fees:

Cost is $97.50, unless couple has proof of having taken four hours of premarital preparation by qualified instructor; in which case, price is lowered to $37.50. Form which certifies that the couple has received this premarital counseling can be downloaded from the website and must be signed by a qualified counselor to receive this discount. Cost of copy of marriage license is $10; will accept check drawn on local bank or money order.
