Memphis Area Prevention Coalition - Safe Point Needle Exchange & Narcan Distribution

Description:

A grassroots organization made up of concerned citizens from 12 sectors of the community formed to facilitate prevention efforts in the community to combat underage substance abuse and to prevent prescription drug abuse in the Memphis area. The Memphis Area Prevention Coalition is funded by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. In 2020, the agency started a weekly Safe Point Needle Exchange at two locations and times on Wednesdays; in addition to offering needle disposal and clean needles, they offer free Narcan education and distribution and referrals for substance abuse treatment at both sites as well.

Safe Point Needle Exchange & Narcan Sites: Claybrook Street Site, Wed 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm; Summer Ave Site: Wed 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm; Office Hours: Mon - Fri 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Eligibility:

Persons needing clean needles, wishing to dispose of dirty needles, persons seeking referrals for substance abuse or seeking Narcan and information on how to administer it (Naloxone or Narcan) safely. MAPC seeks agencies, organizations and individuals interested in preventing substance abuse in the Memphis area
