Prayer Lines

Programs that offer a telephone service that enables people who are troubled to contact someone who will pray with them to help them resolve their concerns.

Religious Study Groups

Programs that provide an opportunity for participants to read and discuss religious scriptures or other sacred documents; to study historical places, events and cultures significant to the religion; to understand the doctrine of different religious orders; to engage in group prayer; and to discuss current moral and ethical issues within a religious context with the goal of understanding and deepening their own faith.

Spiritual Retreats

Programs that provide an opportunity for people to withdraw for a period of time, often a weekend, to engage in prayer, meditation, study and instruction either in solitude or as a part of a group. Retreats are generally held at facilities that have peaceful surroundings and are often led by a spiritual director. Also included are retreats for people who simply want a break from a hectic lifestyle, family responsibilities or a bad emotional situation; space to heal following a traumatic experience; or just some tranquility and time alone to consider where they are in their lives.

Worship Services

Organizations that provide opportunities for people to publicly practice their religion either in informally organized groups or as part of an organized service with a designated leader (as in a church, synagogue, temple or mosque).
