Emergency Street Clearance

Programs that send emergency crews, often on a 24-hour basis, to clear fallen trees or other debris that is blocking the smooth flow of traffic on public streets.

Roadside Landscape Maintenance

Programs that are responsible for the planting, topping, trimming, spraying, removal and general care of trees, shrubs and other plants that are in the public right-of-way including landscaped street medians, islands and embankments or in street planters.

Street Cleaning

Programs that are responsible for the regular sweeping of public streets to remove dirt, litter and other debris. Included are special cleanup crews that respond when pressure washing, degreasing or other techniques are required to remove spilled oil, blood, fecal matter, trapped litter, bird droppings and other messes that are left when accidents are cleared, animal carcasses are removed or grimy buildups accumulate over time.

Street Construction/Repair

Programs that are responsible for developing, inspecting and ensuring that local streets, bridges, tunnels, pedestrian subways, culverts, bicycle paths, retaining walls, curbs, sidewalks, driveways and other public byways are in good repair.

Street Flooding/Drainage

Programs that are responsible for ensuring that flooded streets are adequately drained.
