Description:
MDA provides comprehensive preventive, diagnostic and treatment services including orthopedic equipment on an outpatient basis for individuals who have muscular dystrophy at the Robinson Research Building at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In addition, MDA offers a nationwide help line, durable medical equipment loan closet, summer camp for children ages 8 to 17, information about clinical trials, support groups, and caregiver resources.

Program Fees:
Care at MDA Care Centers is billed to patient insurance, paid out of pocket, or paid with financial assistance for which the patient may be eligible at the institution or through other sources. Borrowing items from the Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet is free, but patients must be registered with MDA and diagnosed with a disease covered by MDA. Summer camp is free.

The local MDA office accepts donations of gently used durable medical equipment including wheelchairs, braces, shower chairs, walkers, canes, and communication devices. These items are loaned to MDA-eligible clients.

MDA's national equipment program helps provide good-condition, gently used wheelchairs and other medical equipment, such as shower chairs, hospital beds, walkers, canes, communication devices and similar items, when available and as feasible. Your local MDA office gratefully accepts donations of medical equipment for distribution through its equipment loan program. MDA is able to make minor repairs to gently used items.
