Description:
Volunteer programs include Volunteers in Policing (VIP), Senior Citizens Awareness Network (SCAN), and the Chaplain Corps. The V.I.P. program places volunteers within divisions of the Sheriff's Office and they are also scheduled to assist with special events. SCAN volunteers provides crime prevention and visitation services for the elderly and shut-in population. The Chaplain Corps consists of local ministers who volunteer for 24-hour "on-call" shifts at least once monthly in order to serve the spiritual needs of both police officers and the general public.
