Description:
Provides low-income seniors (60 and older) with the CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program); seniors may come in once a month to pick up boxes of food after registering (fruits, juices, tuna, bread, etc.); also provides the senior farmers market vouchers to exchange for fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs at farmers markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs during growing seasons in JULY AND AUGUST ONLY. A list of Farmer's Market vendors who accept the vouchers will be given to recipients when vouchers are issued in July and August (Eight $5.00 vouchers per summer season); also available on website.. May also call 901-222-9750 to verify sites that accept the vouchers.

Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 3:30 pm; commodity pickup of food is once a month but must pre-register

Call to find out how to apply for the CSFP; if there is currently a waiting list to enroll in the CSFP program, eligible seniors may still be able to qualify for the summer farmer's market vouchers. Proof of age, residency and income is needed to apply

Eligibility:
Low-income seniors, generally defined as individuals 60 and over with household incomes at or below 130% of federal poverty guidelines. In Shelby County, seniors who are enrolled in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) foods are also eligible for SFMNP checks. However, even if there is a waiting list for the CSFP program, seniors who qualify may still be able to get the summer market vouchers. The SFMNP uses the same guidelines as CSFP. Seniors must be a resident of the county and 60 years of age or older. They must have an income at or below 130% of the federal income poverty guidelines. The SFMNP issues $5.00 checks to eligible seniors each year in July to be spent in July and August; an eligible senior may receive up to $40.00 for the summer farmers market to spend on fresh produce.
