Specialty Food Providers
Programs that supply infant formula and/or baby food, usually in addition to other groceries.
Food distribution programs that provide fruits, vegetables, baked goods, deli items, dairy products and other perishables. Some programs offer locally grown fresh foods as a part of a movement toward locally based food sustainability.
Programs that provide gluten-free foods including breads, baking mixes, cookies, crackers, snacks, pastas, convenience and prepared meals, vitamins and baking supplies for people who have Celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis (a gluten induced skin sensitivity) or other food intolerances. Gluten is a mixture of plant proteins that occurs in cereal grains, chiefly corn and wheat but also oat and barley. It gives cohesiveness to dough and may be used as a flour substitute.
Programs that provide food that has been slaughtered (in the case of meat), stored and prepared in accordance with Islamic dietary laws.

Programs that provide liquid nutrition supplements for older adults and/or people with disabilities who, for medical reasons, are unable to derive sufficient nutrients from a regular diet. Also included are programs that provide high calorie liquid supplements needed by cancer patients and others who have difficulty swallowing, digesting or keeping solid foods down.
Programs that provide meat and produce that have been certified organic. Produce that has been grown for three years without the application of synthetic pesticides or chemicals, and livestock that has raised on organic feeds for at least a year are considered "organic".
